In June of 2019, New York City opened its doors to the first WorldPride ever hosted in the United States.
The celebration honored the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and the event that sparked a worldwide movement. This truly once in a generation experience spanned over 30 days, with over 100 events, and over 4 million people participating.
Humans of Pride is the story of a rare moment of both unity and divisiveness, and will become global tale for decades to come.
This documentary follows the journey a few LGBTQIA+ activist filmmakers as they turn the entire city of New York into their stage. Capturing off the cuff interviews, and literally doing it live in one of the most complex productions ever, was something they had to figure out fast.
From immersive high profile spectacle events, to the protest drenched streets of the Village, the Humans of Pride brigade was everywhere to be found. Interviews from a slew of celebrities, activists, and leaders, from all corners of the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, threw the producers for a spin with some unexpected truths. It is in those hard truths that Humans of Pride creator Kevin Coop and team, found the answers to their community’s past, present, and future.
This film is not just art, but a blueprint for the next generation of LGBTQIA+ activists and visionaries willing to fight for the great change of tomorrow.
